Place, in marketing, refers to the physical or virtual location where customers access and purchase a product, including the distribution channels used to reach the target market.
Primary Implication
Potential customers either know where to buy from you or they don’t. If they don’t know where to buy or it isn’t easy for them to transact business with you, there will be no cash inflow from new customers.
Overview
Place is the location of the market where customers purchase your product. It includes the means of distribution used in reaching it. If you want more people to buy your product, you’ll need to focus on generating continuous traffic to the “place” your target prefers to transact business. It doesn’t matter where you want to sell your product.
Place exists where your customers want to buy the products and services you want them to purchase from you, not one of your competitors.
If your consumer base is narrow, and the product is seldom used, you have to be proactive, showing prospective customers where to buy it, or you will not generate very much in sales.
