Capitalism, not Socialism, is the answer to what ails the world.
Dave Thomas, founder of Wendy’s, said, “Give everyone a chance to have a piece of the pie. If the pie’s not big enough, make a bigger pie.”
The key to making the pie bigger is capitalism, not socialism. Capitalism thrives on the freedom of individuals and businesses to own property, establish enterprises, compete in markets, and make decisions driven by self-interest. With minimal government intervention, this system has been a catalyst for innovation, efficiency, and economic progress over centuries.
Socialists want you to believe that capitalism causes inequality and social issues. What they miss is that capitalism increases the size of the pie, enabling more people to benefit. The inherent risk of capitalism lies in the loss of money from business mistakes. What gets attention, though, is the damage done by dishonesty.
The root cause of capitalism’s contribution to inequality and social issues is cheating, stealing, scamming, and violating the laws of a free society. This is not capitalism. It is robbery. It is like the pirates of the sea who plunder merchant ships of their precious cargo under the belief that they deserve the wealth created by others not the owners who created the wealth. Taking from the rich to keep for yourself is wrong. Taking from the rich to give to the poor is nice in theory but never sustainable.
We don’t need a redistribution of wealth from the rich to the poor. We need to live in a country where people can benefit from their hard work and sacrifice. Where they can achieve financial freedom through the value they create from their skills, talents, and time devoted to becoming the best they can be. We don’t need handouts. We need opportunities to learn, grow, and contribute. This is what well-managed businesses provide their owners, employees, and customers.
Consider what the “progressives” are calling for. They want to replace our free market economy that allows for private enterprise with the communist system of socialism. They say it is to reallocate wealth to the disadvantaged by having the government take over ownership of the means of production.
Throughout communism’s history, not one country that converted to this economic method of the government owning the means of production by bloodshed on their general populace became better off after living under the constraints of communist rule than they were before millions died during the communist takeover. All you must do is look at the history of Russia, China, and Cuba to see how the families of the communist elite have amassed massive wealth while the general populace fought and continue to fight a never-ending struggle to keep food on the table and their homes warm.
We need more people willing to own the means of production that enable them to deliver products and services at a profit. We need free, not regulated, markets where prices are determined by what customers are willing to pay and a company is willing to sell it for not by a government-set price. We need businesses to pay the taxes they owe for the government benefits they rely on to operate their businesses. If this were to happen, we would not have the hunger, misery, and social strife plaguing us as we do today.
